The Harpers’ journey began in Suffolk, England, during their service in the United States Air Force. Inspired by Tim Ferriss's work, Thomas first started creating his own supplements in 2012, crafting capsules from bulk powders for friends and family by 2014.
In 2022, Thomas and Christa Harper launched Sisu Mushroom Farm, a 100% veteran-owned business, to bring high-quality mushroom products to the community. Initially supplying fresh mushrooms to local restaurants and markets, they expanded to breeding fungi and optimizing genetics in their lab, helping serve and educate aspiring mushroom farmers and hobbyist.
Today, Sisu Mushrooms' focus is on sharing the benefits of organic mushrooms, including Lion’s Mane powder, known for its role in supporting brain health, memory, and mental clarity. For Thomas, this journey is deeply personal. After attending a ceremony and experiencing the effects of mushrooms on his own mental health, he left the medical field and committed to farming and sharing their potential with others. Through Sisu Mushrooms, a portion of every sale is dedicated to supporting mental health initiatives and psilocybin research, with the goal of advancing solutions for depression, PTSD, and other challenges faced by so many.
